And welcome to ‘Gibbons on Tour’.  I’m Nikki – wife to a pretty awesome Scottish dude, mum of two little monsters (Magnus & Beatrix), lover of pizza, beer, rock n roll, cats, war novels, and an unapologetic foul-mouth.  But my true passion is traveling the world and experiencing all the magical things it has to offer.

I caught the travel bug when moved to Japan at about seven years old.  For the next {almost} ten years, I traveled all over the country with my family…learning the culture, eating great food, and exploring places most people only dream of.  

Fast forward to my mid-20s.  I was living in Maine and trying to establish myself as a contributing member of society after finishing university with two, relatively useless degrees: Political Science and International Affairs…go figure.  It was at this time that was lucky enough to meet my #hothusband Alan, a Scottish dude obsessed with rugby, who is totally up for exploring all parts of the world with me {and now our two kiddos}.  

Three states later, we’ve landed in Phoenix, Arizona.  And for the record, if you asked me a few years ago if I’d ever live in the desert, I’d tell you you’re f*@ing nuts.  It’s been two years so far and we are loving everything this beautiful state has to offer: desert, mountains, waterfalls, sunshine, monsoons and most important, a major airport (America’s Friendliest Airport) – making our love of travel super manageable!

Follow our adventures, as we try to balance our wanderlust with full-time careers, two small kids, and a great big world to explore!

PS…I’ve traveled alot before starting this blog and I want to share the good, the bad, and the ugly…with and without kids. If you’re interested in any of the places I’ve gone, or any tips & tricks I’ve learned along the way…just ask! I hope to get around to posting about all of the previous travels as well.
